The Inspectorate of Government is mandated under Chapter 14 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda to enforce the Leadership Code. The Code of conduct is operationalized by the Leadership Code Act, 2002. Secton 4 (1) and (2) of the Leadership Code Act,2002 requires a Leader (specified under the Second Schedule ) to submit a written declaration of income, assets and liabilities to the Inspector General of Government every two years during the month of March.
Leaders last submitted their declarations in March 2021. They are therefore expected to submit their next declarations of income, assets and liabilities to the Inspector General of Government (IGG) between 1st and 31st March 2023.
The official launch for this declaration period was on Wednesday, 1st March 2023 at the Mayors Gardens in Lira City starting at 9:00 am. The Theme for this declaration period is " Asset declaration: a tool for accountability to the citizens".
The Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda, Lukia Isanga Nakadama, was the chief Guest.
