Introductory Meeting on the Roll-out of the Operation & Maintenance Framework (OMF) in Lango Sub-region

On 15th August 2025, Lira District Headquarters hosted an introductory meeting convened by the Ministry of Water and Environment, in partnership with Uduma, to roll out the Operation & Maintenance Framework (OMF) in the Lango sub-region. This initiative is funded by the Hilton C. Foundation and aims to strengthen the management of rural water systems through a professional, utility-style approach under the Community-Based Maintenance Plus model.
Key highlights from the meeting:
1. Area Service Provider: A contracted service provider will oversee the management of sub-regional water supply infrastructure.
2. Sub-regional Water Supply & Sanitation Board (WSSB): To be established through an inter-district consultative process led by the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Regional Centre – 1 in Lira.
3. Regional Coverage: Nine districts in the Lango sub-region will be clustered into a single water supply area.
4. Engagement Process: The roll-out will begin with district stakeholders, then district councils, lower local councils, and finally the beneficiary communities.
This milestone marks a significant step toward sustainable, reliable, and well-managed rural water supply services in the Lango sub-region.
